LOCAL FAMILY BUSINESS

Mary’s opened as a small pound shop 31 years ago, in Macroom

Mary’s opened as a small pound shop in 1986, located in Macroom’s back square. Driving to and from the shop in an old Ford Cortina, with their baby daughter in tow, Mary and Richard slowly grew their business from the ground up with financial help from their relatives. From various rented locations in Macroom, they finally found their permanent home in 1991, on 2 Main street. Here, through hard work and the support of the town and their staff, their shop has grown to provide whatever you may need in a wide price range and at value for money. In 2010, we were able to open a store in the nearby town of Ballincollig, extending our great value to a wider audience.

We, at Mary’s strive to offer the local community a place where they can get what they want and at a price that reflects value for money. We are always trying to come up with new ways to make our store a valuable asset to the town and to enhance your shopping experience, whether through competitions, like colouring competitions which gave over €1000 in prizes to local schools, through sponsoring local sports teams or through simply making sure our prices and stock reflect what you want. We are always open to your ideas and if there is anything you would like to see in Mary’s, we would love to know.
